It’s not easy to discuss which insurance policy may offer the best laptop insurance.
There are a large number of factors that may influence what an individual considers to be desirable in a policy and the reality is that what’s best for someone else may not be the best for you.
Therefore, it’s necessary to actually think about what cover a policy is going to deliver to you and under what terms and conditions. Those can then be reviewed to see if they’re a good match to your expectations and requirements. You may then consider the one that’s the closest match to be the best laptop insurance for you.
Some laptop insurance may offer cover including for:
- theft;
- accidental damage and destruction;
- breakdowns outside of the manufacturer’s warranty.
Some insurance providers may even go that extra step and offer to replace your laptop (if it cannot be repaired) within 48-hours of your claim being approved.
As with any insurance product, terms and conditions exclusions and limitations will apply and you may wish to read these carefully to ensure you understand them. The reason for that is that they need to be considered against your requirements just as much as the provided cover does. For example, policies may typically exclude theft from cover but some may also not provide protection for damage to your laptop caused by liquids.
By contrast, others policies may cover accidental liquid damage and they may also provide cover should your laptop be stolen while unattended (provided it is locked away). That’s not necessarily always the case as some policies may excluded what’s called ‘unattended theft’.
You may also find that policies will expect you to report any theft to the police within 24 hours and get them to issue you with a police crime number as evidence that you’ve done so – you’ll need that to support your eventual claim.
There’s also good news if you travel abroad with your laptop – some policies may provide overseas cover as standard.
So, deciding what exactly is the best laptop insurance may take a little effort. Be prepared to compare both the benefits and the terms of policies to help you decide what’s suitable for you.
